Not the biggest, but permit none the less. Got them in the cast net at the base of the north jetty this morning.

They are permit. Not to be confused with Pompano or small Jack Crevalle. These are not common to our area.

You usually find the little permit when you pull a siene and find a large school of baby pomps. We used to get them all the time at Port A jetties while collecting for the aquarium (Texas State Aquarium). Also used to get juvenile lookdowns and sometimes tiny mahi.

Very interesting, Aaron. Small crabs in the area can kiss it goodbye.

Couple weeks ago, those things were thick at BHP at night. By thick, I mean 6-8 every time throwing cast net.

I was calling them angel fish.

For me, they were size of palm of hand or smaller of and adult man. This is about as scientific as I can get.
