This years trip is a little different, the wife said it was time for a boat. So we got one back in April. Saturday we caught the first boat to the north jetty.
Fishing was slow caught alot of under size black drum and reds. Only managed two keeper reds. Sunday we took the boat out anchored at the north jetty. Fished thru the rain caught some small reds and one keeper before we had to head in because of a storm, went back out after the storm behind St. Jose Island caught one bull reds and ten gafftops in the 6# range. Had a three foot blacktip go airborne and threw my bait back at me. Tuesday we took the two o'clock boat over to the north jetty. The surf was full of weed and waves breaking over the jetty. Fished the channel side with no luck. My buddy and I spent the night looking for sharks and bull reds. One bull no sharks and one 60# ray. Wedsday afternoon we hit the South jetty, surf was beautiful caught small sand trout and jacks. Right before sundown tarpon showed up couldn't get them to bite on anything. Thursday took the boat out no luck at the jetty headed to Fina docks where we found some reds. Friday went back to Fina docks reds were still there, got ran off the water around ten from the weather. All in all not a bad trip. Headed back down in three weeks hopefully the bulls will be running. Here's some pic of our trip. Until next time tight lines.

Don't want to be a potlicker but were you using live mullet, or cut bait?
You guys always seem to slay them...
I often wait till I see your report and head down right after _________________ Steve-O

We were using live mullet and chunks of skip jacks on a carolina rig. There is alot of debris on the bottom so we tied off to the structure and casted 2 to 3' from the bulk head. You can also fish the point just east of the structure, it's easier to anchor. Tight lines |
