We are in Angel Fire celebrating Mary's birthday. I fly fished today and got 3 rainbows.Tomorrow we will be checking off another thing on Mary's bucket list. We will be zip lining. There are 6 lines starting with a 200' long one and ending with a 1600' descent.Should be thrilling.

Last week I fished the quality waters of the San Juan river in the Four Corners area. Was after one of the legendary San Juan trout. After 5 nice trout I finally hook into what I was after. Was using 2.5lb tippet and a fly that was no bigger than this letter " f ". After a 20 minute fight I landed a 5lb 21" rainbow that had a 16" girth. What a fatty. Released her with a big a$$ grin on my face. (Now with Pics edit via Admin - Nice Tom!)

Very cool! Always love reading your posts.

Thinking about heading up there for a skiing trip this Christmas. Anything I should checkout along the way?

I spent Saturday at Calallen's Jr. High volleyball tourney and got to thinking of you. Hope all is well. Safe travels! You and Mary are going to have a blast zip lining. We got to do it in the jungles of Cozumel.

Zia, thanks for the report, and congratulations on the 'bow! The three years I lived in Farmington I spent many an evening below the Navajo Dam wading the San Juan. This was my favorite time of year, fishing terrestrials on that great water. Although I was never too crazy about having to watch for the various kinds of snakes when walking back to the parking lot at dusk! Glad you're enjoying the high desert country.

Just finished our zip lining. AWESOME! The 1600 footer was 235' above the ground and I approached 60 mph. I'm still pumped.

Nice Rainbow... I like the guide's look on his face that screams,"put him back in the water" I guess rainbows are fragile, i have only caught them in stock tanks and they were consumed
