Probably answered many times before. Looking for a boat for use out of NAS area. Would rent at NAS but they now want $125.00 per day rental. Which would be more useful and better to fish from - a Whaler Montauk 17' (could go out Packery in this easily on calmer days vs a big aluminum flat bottom semi-v such as a Duracraft 16-21' such as this:

Would a big aluminum boat handle some offshore??

Thanks in advance for opinions.

Whaler. I saw two snowbirds in a 14' jonboat with a 5hp outboard at the PA rigs once, I often wonder if they survived. Shocked

I have been in both in offshore waters.

Go with the Whaler.

Consider, yacht owners use Whalers as their rescue boats; not aluminum.
