Here, here!!!

Better a pound or so of shrimp, than a T-bone and lobster tails [which I have seen go on a LoneStar card at the Bluff HEB].

And there I was, standing there with my 25% markdown, near the sell-by-date, discounted chicken legs. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

You guys both need to get you some Lone Star Cards so you can eat Tbones and Lobster tails like those fine users and freeloaders!! Heck maybe they will let you use it to put gas in your boats since you are going to go fishing so you can load up the fridge with fillets to eat.

I'm not buying this shrimp for fishing is ok justification crap that I am reading on this thread at all (not necessarily you guys). What a load!! Just one more way to justify what the users and freeloaders do and get away with. Nothing more sickening to me than for someone to see something that is obviously wrong and then try to justify the wrong behavior and let the users and freeloaders off the hook. Makes the justifier just as guilty as the freeloading turd.

X2 someone had to say it.

Dude they were joking..... we all pay taxes lots and lots of taxes and 97% of it gets pissed away. So this may make you head explode; At least he wasnt using them to fill the hole in his arm. Those transactions take place in the bushes at the HEB entrance off of SPID access. Drive by some time around dark. They aint trading baseball cards and rescipes.

There's all kinds of folks getting away with all kinds of things. Rich, poor, crooks, criminals and do-gooders all have a story.

Dude - you totally missed my point!! It's not a joking matter at all. Joking about it does nothing but justify the behavior. As long as we joke about it and let it go - it just keeps going on, and on, and on, and on.

At least he wasn't' using it to fill the hole in his arm is just another justification that just excuses bad behavior and makes it ok cause he wasn't using his lone star card for something worse. Dammit - when are we gonna quit joking about this crap and start being vocal and condemn it vehemently every time we see it. I'll bet if some had raised hell at the bait stand and threatened to report them that clown sure wouldn't have been buying bait shrimp for fishing. The twinks and dinks out there sure don't mind being vocal and flaunting themselves in public about every little thing that hurts their poor little woo woo,s - maybe its time the other side started doing the same thing - and even louder and more forceful that the twinkies and dinkies.

Personally, I would much prefer that the jerk use his lone star card to fill the hole in his arm. At least then his head would explode and there would be one less worthless POS user in this world.

I'm so damn cheap, more than once I've eaten the bait shrimp. I just can't stand feeding such good food to fish. Laughing

As for the system, I suspect those of you who're angry over this would have a heart attack if you knew what most of these people spend their stuff on. Usually up here in SA they pay for some food items with the LS card then follow up with 3 cases of Bud Light and a carton of cig's with the cash they could have been buying their own food with, but whatever. If I had the chance I'd buy just about anyone a pint of shrimp if it got them out fishing, but then I give bums downtown cash knowing damn well they're just gonna buy booz or crack with it anyway. Doesn't matter to me I'd hate to be in their situation if I can make them happy for 5 minutes then so be it.

I don't mind paying my own way plus I pay my taxes for those who can't. I eat steak, and lobster when the price is right. It's my piece of pie and I'll eat it the way I want to or as the saying goes, you pluck your chicken and I'll pluck mine. IMS

Got no problem with that philosophy at all. And - to go along with that philosophy - stop trying to steal my piece of pie and trying to pluck my chicken and let me eat it the way I want (in other words get your paws the hell out of my pockets) instead of having to pay for your feel good "pay my taxes for those who can't". You pay for whatever makes you feel good, but stop trying to make me pay for it too.

From what I've seen those who can't are mostly those who are to lazy and slovenly to do anything but mooch. Ever seen a welfare mama pay for a couple of 12 packs of bud lite for her welfare daddy in HEB, I have and raised hell with the manager. Guess what - welfare mama didn't get her bud light that "I paid for for those who can't".

Wow!!! Nice thread going here. Both sides the serious and the passive make good points. Leaning toward the serious side of it. Uncle Sam really likes digging into my pockets and I agree have seen many people abuse the system but damn it sure is funny to hear you can buy bait with the Lone Star lol!!!

When the wife and I were making fairly regular trips to the coast, our last day there, we would hit some of the bait stands in Rockport/Port A and Corpus and buy several pounds of their fresh dead bait shrimp. We would ice them down real good for the trip home. Never noticed any difference in taste between those and shrimp from the seafood counter in the major grocery stores up here.
