I had my name put on the top of the cooler(65 qt Yeti) and it takes up most of the lid. I leave it in the back of my truck 90% of the time night and day and its still there after 3 years. Maybe that helps.

Luke my man, people who break laws don't give a rat's a$$ about rules and laws to begin with. Do you really think they'd stop to look for proof of ownership? Confused No offense intended, just asking if you really thought that out.

Even if a pawnshop wouldn't take it, it's already been stolen. Kind of reminds me of the joke that is the border......

That's terrific!

But, they can merely paint/carve/put label over it. Nevertheless, great to hear that yours haven't been stolen!

I have found that the best security for the Yeti is to buy a bigger one. I'd like to see a thief TRY and lift my 155 when it's loaded with ice/water/beer in the back of my truck (4" lift, 35" tires). From personal experience, two men working together would have problems just pulling it out of there, let alone lifting it. Very Happy

Maybe I'll put four 45 lb weights inside the next cooler!

Or, I had thought about putting razor barb wire all around the sucker at night! Going too far for a damn cooler, lol!

Just need to shoot one of those $*&W%^$ to send a strong message!

where are these douchelords selling all these coolers? you see them on craigslist every once in a while... pawn shops I guess and the employees probably buy them?

bobbytrapping a few would probably take care of the problem for the most part. I'd bet it's not more than half a dozen people running around town stealing these things.

Dave, I know the personally don't care if it has Joes name on it, but my thought is that they obviously aren't interested in the cooler, they want the cash it commands, obviously. And if they are selling in the US, their best outlet for pushing 10 stolen yetis per month is a pawn shop (but maybe not?). And the people who BUY from pawn shops generally aren't going to buy something with a dudes name and number on it (the pawn shop could get in DEEP doodoo for selling/buying goods that are clearly stolen - it happens all the time). So to the thief, its like stealing something that has 0% chance of getting resold, therefore its a high risk low reward theft - not worth it. Maybe I'm giving them too much credit for being smart?

Now, if they are selling it outside a pawn shop where NOBODY has any liability, then yes, you are 100% right, they are all criminals from the first thief to the last buyer and nobody gives a rats bottom if Joe's name is on it.

Didn't the last yeti sting result in a car chase?

Luke, I strongly believe that you are giving these types too much credit when it comes to intelligence. My whole point being, when someone is going to steal something from a vehicle or boat, they do it as quickly as possible. Hanging around the extra time to closely examine all sides for any personal ID info just ain't part of the MO my friend. Wink

Added to that, most are probably drunk, stoned or both and also have a fair chance at being drop outs. Reading at all might be sketchy, but speed reading while flipping q big cooler onto all sides while heisting it from someone else???

While you're here, thanks again for the tips....... But why no return on the PM's? Cool

Razor blades. When I was in high school I use to have to buy new subs about every month. So after about the fourth time I fashioned razor blades to the bottom of a sub box that I built and purposely drove around the neighborhood with them incredibly loud (advertising) next morning trunk was open but the sub box was still there.😆😆 I've never had my cooler stolen. But it would only take once before I would make something to go on the handles with hidden razors on them. Like a leather strap with pieces of blades in it. Maybe a little bit of overkill but it gets the job done!

Unfortunately, a bolt cutter will simply cut that away! It may slow the freaking thief(ves), but a big bolt cutter will only take probably 10-15 seconds!

I had a Yeti bracket with a cable and now the Yeti is gone!

If the person who stole my Yeti is reading this - return my Yeti and all will be forgiven! And ask for God's forgiveness! Or else!

Yep, razor blades is right. My parents said they had friends who used to do it with their radios. Glue them under the handles if you dumb enough to leave them unattended in the back of your vehicle. I own a 65 and its in my truck if I'm not watching it. I'll never buy another one down here though. Not worth worrying about down here. Too many damn thieves and a coleman the same size is 40 bucks.
