Hit the beach this past weekend.

Had a big group of guys from work going down to fish. Destination - Yarborough Pass. A weekend getaway if you will. My initial plan was to go hang out and enjoy the weekend and wade fish but then Swellinfo caught my eye. Would it be right this time? Day 0 arrived and Swellinfo was looking good so I ended up loading the Zodiac and heading South. Got there Thursday night and headed offshore Friday morning into GREAT conditions for a solo trip to test the waters while I waited for the rest of the group to get there. Weed was scattered so I trolled with nothing to show for it. Hit up a rig and fishing was slow but managed some decent fish and a few undersize Snapper. I did dip my head in the water and was amazed at how much was down there. Visibility was around 25 ft or so. Best I've ever had out there. So I went back in and met up w the group back at Yarb. One of my fishing buddies, Squirrel, came down and he's been offshore with me before so we ran out early Saturday morning to the rig. Fishing was again slow, but since I had Squirrel with me now, I felt safer to jump in the water not being alone. Speared a plethora of fish to feed the group and we did manage 2 Sharks. Squirrels was about 4' which I missed cuz I was in the rig spearfishing, and then I got one, about 3'. I handed Squirrel the rod and jumped in to snap some pics. We also had a huge school of Dolphin come by that had schooled up some Bonita and were flat getting after em. We unhooked from the rig and motored over into it. They took a liking to my little boat so while I motored slowly through them, I put the camera in the water and snapped pics as they came by the boat. I know a lot of people complain about em being pests but I've never had this happen so for me, it was an AMAZING thing to see.

Back onshore, Squirrel had to head home but my other buddy Casey I always fish with was coming down with his brother Cory from Kansas and we were planning to hit up Yarb flats on Sunday since offshore was kinda slow. Up Sunday morning, the rest of camp was packing to head home and we ventured out with a game plan of casting plastics for Trout in some areas we had mapped out. We ended up venturing into the Landcut and down to Haps Cut which we took back into The Graveyard. Lots of small tailing Reds, and some good B Drum and Sheepies on the flats. So we put the motor up, sent Casey on a wade and I poled Cory around casting to Sheepshead. Casey ended up sight casting a nice B Drum on a plastic which was pretty sweet. The Sheepshead do NOT like fake baits thrown at them, lol. After a good couple of hours on the water, we had hooked 11 Trout, landed 8 since we had left the net at the truck and were forced to fling em into the boat. We lost 3 that didn't make that short trip. And Casey's B Drum. All in all a good few hours. Got them back to the trucks after a bumpy ride back across the flats since the wind had picked up and they had to leave and I was on my own since I was staying til Monday. After 3 late nights and early mornings, I had dinner and called it an early night since there was no reason to stay awake. I was up early Monday morning and took the boat solo back across to Rocky Slough and tried throwing plastics for more Trout. Saw some Reds and a few other fish I couldn't id, but man it's hard to motor and fling lures w a stiff wind trying to push me into the shallows\rocks. I anchored in a few spots and threw lures for a bit with nothing to show so I called it and headed to the truck and called it a success.

Had a great weekend with a large group of guys from work. They did well back in Yarb on Reds and B Drum during the days kayaking around. Was a great trip with some great people and an awesome few evenings hanging around the fire with the guys. EVERY trip I always have an amazing time. I feel so lucky to be able to see the things I've seen on the water and wouldn't trade it for anything. Words can't begin to describe, and I will cherish every memory.

love the rack on the inflatable. i looked into doing something similar when i had mine. That osv has been out there a few times recently. i wonder if that rigs going away soon. hope not, thanks for the report

I'm interested in that rack too. Was playing with the idea of making something similar out of PVC but I like the look of aluminum better.

That's just a rig service boat, not the rig remover guys, from what I understand the near rigs to PINS are still active.
