Is there much to be had out there at night other than shark (and beer and ghosts)?

Sure!!!!

There are mosquitoes, deer flies, really-really darkness (it never ceases to amaze me just how dark the beach can be on a new moon), the occasional creepy noise from the dunes to make you feel unsettled, perhaps a visit from Ranger Rick Rolling Eyes , and maybe, ... just maybe a rogue wave will wash ashore and flood your tent!! [Oh wait, that only happens to me Embarassed ]

You could build a fire.

Seriously though, I guess you could soak bait for reds or black drum? If you have the means, you could look for tarpon along the jetties with lights, but that seems pretty sketchy being a few hours away from help. We've always focused on shark fishing late at night and well into the early AM.

Primarily sharks, reds, drum, and hardheads. Careful being to active with big lights. The rangers will come check it out to see if it is drug related. And that might piss them off enough to look for something to arrest or ticket you for.

The day is for fishing, the nighttime is for a campfire, food and tall tale telling. Wink
