|
Last night around 12 midnight my son hooked up on a tarpon it was the thrill of the night but the fight did not last as the fish broke water for about 3 ft and spit the hook all we remember is the look of each others faces as that big silver fish flew through the air and spit the hook
Never before have I seen a tarpon in nuesus bay we were fishing at marinaville _________________ EVERY DAY IS A GOOD DAY TO FISH |

I saw maybe 20 throughout the year caught in Nueces last year. They weren't small that's for sure. _________________

No. From what I'm told they have declined. There use to be more bach in the day. At least that's what I'm told. _________________

You would have slept for a few days straight, trust me. My body was a wreck after the fight. Upper body holding on to the rod with the lower body and core trying to stay in the kayak and keep it straight. Definitely took its toll. _________________

PITBULL you are a lucky man to see your son hooked up with one of those beauties. They are tough to land, but seeing that jump is pretty freaking awesome. Congrats to your son, and good luck trying to satisfy that new-found desire to land a silver king. _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |

Yeah the tarpon numbers aren't what they were 50 years ago but there's a lot more of those bad boys swimming around than you think. Same with snook. Ever dive packery or the port a jetties? Yeah..... _________________ "I never had an Easter, but I've always had a bunch of speakers" - Beardo |

Baby steps indeed. Back in the 80's verses now, the reports of sightings are way up. Back then when you actually may have comprehended a huge flash of silver and a blow up, thought WTF (Wow, That's Freaky) and gone about eating your "special" brownie. _________________
