What would be the best way to hook ghost shrimp so that it does not fall off so easy Anyone? _________________ The Hardhead Whisperer |

Strip a twisty tie wrap the wire around the eye of the hook and then wrap the wire around the shrimp. Kinda think of Christmas lights around the tree. Sounds funny but it works. Used to use them a lot in San Diego. They stay on pretty good on the cast that way. _________________ It's not the destination, the journey is everything. |

I use a small treble hook, but be ready...if anything is out there, it's on it as soon as it hits the water. _________________ See ya on the water,

I use a 1ot or 2ot berkley lazer sharpened hook. Depends on the size of the shrimp. I start the hook at the tail and worm them on so the point is right at the face. Hook is hard to see this way. They have a little more trouble getting it off the hook that way. I don't know if you can suck them out on the seashore. Maybe they changed it when escoto left. I fish the South Padre Island side and Boca Chica Beach also, so sand pumps are fine to use just have to keep the possession to 20 per person. I have always wanted to use Ghost Shrimp for bait just never could get it stay on the hook long. Thanx for the info guys. _________________ The Hardhead Whisperer |

While Escoto can be blamed for much, the protection of ghost shrimp on PINS was a good move, IMHO. They provide much of the needed nutrition to migrating shorebirds. Unfortunately, the snowbirds were out there sucking them up by the thousands. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |
