Headed out to PINS yesterday. Stopped a couple miles in and threw out some dead shrimp. Was not expecting too much, just trying to stock up on some whiting. Right away found out there was a lot of sea grass in the first gut. So, long poles were out. Second time with one of the smaller poles I threw it out into the first gut and as soon as I set it down and turned away it bends over. Fought it for a while and landed a nice 27 inch red. Threw the line back out and shortly after landed a huge 17 inch whiting. It kind of died down after that and I was getting tired of fighting the sea grass, so we packed it up and headed to about the 8 mile marker. Put all the lines back out and then spent 15 minutes cleaning grass off all of them shortly after. Decided to set up a pole holder on the first sandbar and then just fished two poles from there. Would throw one out and place it in the holder and then hold the other. Would land a fish and take it in and by the time I got back with that one the other pole would have a fish on. Ended up getting a 17 inch black drum and put about a dozen large whiting in the ice chest. Smallest of the whiting was around 14 inches or so.

You had a pretty good day on the surf in spite of the seagrass! Good for you
