| Anybody know of someone that would work on a 1976 model johnson? I have called two different places and they prefer not to work on it because of age. They didnt even let me get out what the problem was. All that needs to be done is water pump replaced and to find out why im getting water in the lower unit. I was told that it could be a seal of some kind im not sure. I would try and take it on myself but im gone alot for work so i would rather have someone more competent to do it. Thanks |

I'm pretty sure the guys in Alice (South Texas Marine Center) would do it. They rebuilt my 1980 Johnson many years ago and work on my Dad's late 70's era 28 SPL.

If its a 15hp or 25hp motor I know them pretty well, other than that top gun marine can fix it for ya.

YouTube! There is a vast amount of videos that show you how to do this. It is easier than you would think. I did a water pump, fuel pump, carb kit, and thermostat on my 1966 evinrude fastwin on my own.

| Yea i did the carbs on it myself but i work in the oilfield and being on 24 hr call and sometimes working for 30 days or more at a time, the last thing i need is to have it all torn apart and get called out and then it sit in pieces for who knows how long. That is one of my pet peeves, if you cant see something from start to finish dont start. Happens here at work guys take apart 80k dollar equipment and then the parts cant be ordered and it sits for months on end getting weathered and everything. Thanks for the tips guys ill call around and talk to them guys |
