Hit my cold weather spot this morning at about 9am. The conditions were perfect with the temps being as low as they've been in a while and the wind still blowing.
I started throwing a clear shrimp tail and was nailing the trout right away. Many were just under the limit and a few right at 15' which I returned to the water. I switched to a cocahoe minnow and bam, landed a nice trout just uner 20". After that the bite slowed so I started my quest for Reds. They were stacked up and I had a limit of fat ones in no time. I also caught a smooth puffer, an ugly sucker that I had never caught before.
While I was fishing for Trout a small Buck came over the hill really close and was watching me fish for a while, then he took off and ran straight into the water, all the way up to his neck. I didn't see him with anything when he got out and it was the first time that I've ever seen anything like that!
Nice morning fishing today.

Ugly Smooth Puffer

I have great video of a deer swimming in the back yard. We followed him for a while as it was hunting season and we had a tag. We let him go on his way after shooting the footage. Was the first time I had seen that. GW said they swim back and forth from the mainland to the island.

Nice report...I caught one of those puffers this past weekend in Nueces. My wife called right after I caught it so I sent her the pic...definitely an interesting fish and they can tear a gulp in half pretty quickly. Cool

Yea, there very strong. This one was flipping around something fierce and it was hard getting him off the hook.
