Agree with the others if you really want a levelwind the Abu Garcia reels are a damn fine reel. I bought my 6500c3 from a pawn shop right at 20 years ago and I still use it every trip to the beach. I had it professionally cleaned once since I've had it and I've never taken it apart just rinsed it down... still casts great. _________________ JJ |

| Have used Garcia 6501's for years spooled with Big Game 15 or 20 on beach, bay and lake throwing lures, corks, live bait and dead. Very reliable and versatile reels. Keep them clean and oiled and they will last a long time. |

Due to the advice, I went a picked up the daiwa yesterday.
Took it out today. It is one smooth slick reel. So far I love this reel. I need to work on casting it, I know I'm not getting all the distance out of it that it can give me.
Any tips on getting the distance?
It's mounted on a 10' Okuma rod. |

What size you get?
You can mag those reels/have them magged too. Mine are 40 size so mostly I just lob a big hunk of dead meat out best I can. _________________ JJ |

| I picked up the 30. I figured a little smaller would be easier to deal with. My next one might be the 40, but so far, I like the 30 just fine. |

Right on, the 30 is better anyway. I have 40's because I already have other casting reels for reds/jack class stuff and wanted something I can cast light shark baits with when it's too rough to yak. Those 40's have been killer for that and caught me a ton of stuff. _________________ JJ |

If its distance or technique you are after, seek the "Nick Chi" master, grasshopper. _________________ "If we don't leave any, there won't be any."
