Well it has been a blast growing up in S. Texas. Fished from the lower laguna Madre to Galveston Island. Well moving to the family property in Mississippi. Gonna build us a house in the woods. The 40 acres has more trees on it and not sure how to handle the hunting yet. I hear no deer feeders but you can plant a feed plot. They call their deer blinds shootings houses. I want to extend my thanks to everyone I have met, was able to help and get help from. Pray for my family as I our life will change with new adventures and new friends. Mississippi is also known for the Pine Belt and the Bible Belt. I have a flats boat I can't take so I've posted it within the Corpus fishing classifieds and craigslist.
God bless everyone and fish hard!!!!!! _________________ Slicker than a harpooned hippo on a banana tree...... |

I left the coast for family property 26 years ago. Life is good, but I miss the coast every day.
I wish the best for you and your family. |

| Good luck on the move. I thought Mississippi change the no feeder law recently. Might be wrong but I know for sure Georgia did. Enjoy the pine trees and the slower pace of life. Not sure where in Miss you are going but you may want to reconsider selling that boat. Los of good fishing there as well, just a differnt kind. |

Mississippi is actually a great place to live if you like spending time outdoors. Sell that scooter and get a War Eagle 1854 with a shortshaft 25 and your in business.
Duck hunting is probably the most underrated of any state on the Mississipi flyway. They hunt flooded timber, Oxbows, fileds, rivers and do real well on Mallards. They did change the feeder law. You can put them out but they have to be removed 7 days before the start of the season. Just plough up a 1/4 acre and plant winter wheat, Alfalfa or purple hull peas. Really high population of Whitetail. They arent as big as the deer here but there are a lot more of them.
Most importantly your Sunday football beer get it before they close on Saturday which I think is 10 PM. Cause you aint gonna get a cold one unless you go to a "private club". |

Mississippi really is a great place (visually, like Bama points out), but the sight of pine trees growing literally on the beach is just a little too weird for me?!?!
But one additional plus, if you can make it offshore, your days of getting beat up by the washing machine we have here in the Gulf are going to fall dramatically. The part of the Gulf is WAY nicer in terms of swell and sea state (most of the time). |

| Good luck on your new adventure in life. I thought I heard you can shoot a deer each day of deer season up there. Something like 30 deer. They say deer are the biggest cause of accidents in that area. Maybe I was dreaming. |

Got 40 acres and planning on building a new house, inground pool and shop. It's South East of Hattiesburg and Petal Ms . It is 1 hr 20 minutes to Gulf Port. Can't wait to saltwater / marsh fish. I'm so exited and thank everyone for the comments and good lucks. 2 acres already cleared so already planning to start maybe this year. Gonna put an in ground pool in the front so when you pool up it should have a water fall feature and pool. It will be really nice. Hopefully I can keep the deer out of it. Hattiesburg is the retirement city in the nation and just love it. Just don't run off the road. Those trees don't give. Maybe buy me and old Toyota Land Cruiser and rebuild / restore or maybe a 2000 plus year convertable Volkswagon bug and put in on a jeep frame with 35 inch tires. Be pretty cool to show up at church in a convertable bug 4x4. Wife wants a Nomad. We may need to work on that too. Thanks again everyone. _________________ Slicker than a harpooned hippo on a banana tree...... |
