I've had the same Scientific Angler line on my 8 wt for about 10 years. I noticed lately that it's getting a little texture to it. It burns my fingers and doesn't seem to slide through the guides like it used to. Is it time to replace?

10 years is a long time. I would keep it for back up just in case, but I would say replace it you definitely got you money's worth.

Agree, replace it - lots of things in line technology have happened in the last 10 years. I would clean it and treat it with Armor All when you store it as a back up.

I respooled with some RIO. First time out with it landed a 31" red that got me way into the backing. The old SI still looks pretty good. just didn't slide through the guides like it used to. I'll keep it just in case another big red takes all of my RIO..
