A nice lady posted this on my facebook page. I believe the lady found it at the beach or somewhere near Mobile, AL.

Looks like it's from a bird. The keel would be where the breast muscles attach to the skeleton. Judging by the size of the keel I would expect it to have been a pretty good flyer. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

topdog15 got the bird parts right. It's the breast-plate from a heron, I believe. The pointy parts on the bottom-side view is where the ribs attach. I have one just like it.
The other "sea-bean" is a water hickory nut. They growth on moist but well-drained loamy or silty soils in the Mississippi River Valley and along some Coastal Plain streams. Real common on the beach here.

Looks like the upper skull piece from The mermaid show they had on the Discovery channel a few months ago. Looks like we have mermaids in the Gulf.  _________________ wishin i was fishin! |
