Whoa hold on here a minute let me stick my finger in this leaking dike before it bursts. First of all James / navytexan is a very respectful person. He fishes with me, eats with me, my wife likes him very much, he is serving our country, he is a fellow shipmate, and before anyone throws a punch at him you will have to deal with IMS first not that he can't hold his own ground just fine with me cheering him on from the sideline. Now as for bob he to is a very nice person. It's not 20 years ago when you hang a 20 dollar bill on your front door and not worry about it. In this day and time we are surrounded by those who choose to be slime than have a good job. I would trust Bob, Navytxen, and Navytexn's friends with anything that I love or own. I would in turn give them the shirt off my back if needed. I can't say that about everyone I know. IMS

I hate when someone says its your fault that your stuff got stolen just because he was to trusting does not give someone else the right to take his stuff.

Could there be just a slight possibility that a large bull drum or red might have taken off with the reel? A friend just caught a big ugly out there last weekend so they are out there. One could easily take a reel if not very secure.

+100. It is absolutely, totally, 100% the thief's fault no one else's. If I put my stuff out in my front lawn that is absolutely no excuse for someone to come along and stealing it. It does not make any difference whether I should have known or not known that it might be stolen - there is simply no excuse for stealing - under any circumstances - period. All this should have known crap amounts to nothing more that an ill-intentioned attempt to excuse a thief's immoral dishonest behavior.

You left it out where someone could steal it so it's your fault - What A Load Of BS!!

Blame it on the thief - not the guy who got his stuff stolen!! Evil or Very Mad

So would it be my fault whenever I go fishing and I'm pulling my boat behind my truck and it's all geared up with coolers and fishing rods and I go to Whataburger for a taco. Lets say I leave my truck and boat unattended while I go in to make and order and when I come out my rods are gone, is it my fault? Darn right it is because I left my rig unattended. Thats why we leave a watch while someone goes in. Same thing at the bait stand. Maybe instead of pointing fingers the question should be, could it have been prevented? What would the answer be to that?

This is one where the two parties will never come to an agreement on. Thus causing another furlough. It will never get anywhere. The rod is gone and thats a bad thing but thiefs are everywhere and we know it, we just don't know when it's going to be our turn to be on the bad end of the stick. I have been a victim 3 times so far and it never gets any eaiser.

Right on target, IMS. We've all been victims, or will be, at some point. It's amazing how fast they can strike. In plaine sight, almost under your nose, and nobody notices. So, all you can do is minimize the risk, limit their opportunity, or make it more difficult.

Makes me think of the story of a guy who had some tool boxes taken from the back of his pick up. That is until they took a box full of rocks, and a rattlesnake, he never had another box taken.

We "tolerate" the thieves because society chooses to accept the thievery and in most cases insurance covers anything major. It will continue until society chooses to end it and there are so many ways to end it. Texas has the Castle Doctrine Law. It covers a thief taking something out of your truck. If about a dozen thieves were to be shot dead while engaging in their thievery, things would get better.

I was looking to come to move to Corpus and purchase a house just up the street from IMS. Had someone broken into that house while I was present my new neighbors would have heard the roar of a 12 gauge or the report from my 45 Service automatic being fired 7 times. Would I kill over "stuff" - yup I would and I wouldn't have lost much more sleep over that than I did putting my dog down this past year or shooting VC in Nam. I'm sorry if I offend, but a line in the sand has to be drawn somewhere and the Great State of Texas has given us the instrument to draw that line - use it!!! If you don't want to use it then stop complaining about having stuff stolen.

For IMS, a public Thank You for all of the emails concerning the house on your street - we are still looking.

Unfortunately we can no longer be so trusting of others. We must be more cautious and not put our hard earned treasures in plane sight of thieves. If I walked in to grab a taco with my gear left outside for all to see and return to find half of it gone, your damn right I'd blame myself. If I leave my gear in the bed of my truck overnight and its gone the next morning, I'd be pissed at myself. Its not that I could ever avoid being robbed but it is less likely if I do my part to guard against it happening. If they want it bad enough, they'll still get it but I'll be damned if I make it easy for them.

I was wondering the same thing. I had a pretty good sized surf outfit pulled into a lake by a pound and a half pound channel catfish.

[quote="BobBobber"] I reeled in the line, so the shrimp was not in the water but more than 3 ft out of the water, In other words, a fish did not pull my rod into the water.

He said he had reeled the bait in. Confused
