the family is planning a weekend at the beach this weekend. which beach is cleaner and over night tent camping friendlier at the moment, Mustang Island (north jetty side) or Port Aransas (next to south jetty)?
I was at Port A about a month ago and the beach was full of seaweed and the water was brown. it was not very kid friendly at the time. is it any better?
I'd like to camp at least in walking distance of either jetty to see if us guys can get a little fishing in too. btw, only grown ups will be camping.

TIA for any info

The overnight camping is real friendly port-a side of jetty. They have in tent food service free shuttle to the jetty and mini massages. Seriously though, the beach is pretty clean on both sides with little or no weed in the water. Have fun!!

Here is a picture of the Port Aransas surf this afternoon. I was surprised it was brown all the way out to the end of the south jetty, on the surf side and the brown water was out past the "T" on Horace Caldwell Pier. The current offshore today pretty much stopped and I think it will be turning around and coming out of the north by tomorrow. The water in the channel was blue green and I think it will be beautiful in the morning with an incoming tide. There was a Texas Parks and Wildlife survey at the beach checking fishermen as they were coming off the jetty. He said one guy had reported bull red action early. Also, someone else reported that they had hooked a tarpon near the end on a spoon. He mentioned that this was all that had been reported and that he had not seen any fish. There was "NO" seaweed anywhere offshore that I saw today. Smile

Water at the island south of packery was nice today, pretty green color. No seaweed either.
