| Went to north Packery this morning. Wind was blowing harder than I expected but water clarity was good. Sargassum was spotty in the channel. About a half dozen anglers were catching 3-4 pound jacks on the surf side on topwaters. Lasted more than an hour. Then 2-3 folks free-lining live shrimp in the channel started catching 17-20 inch trout. Bunch of guys at the end were trying to catch kings but I didn't see any landed. |

| Heading back to sa now! Weed was really bad, we were just past the 20 mm, we managed 2 pomps and a 22 in red. No shark cause we couldn't get the baits to stay out too long cause of the weed![/img] |

Was down at port a from 7/18-7/21. Fished the south jetty catching Spanish mackerel, jacks, vermillion snapper, and skip jacks. People down at the end were landing bull reds on cut bait fishing bottom on the channel side. My dad managed to hook to a tarpon but of course he spit the hook when he jumped out of the water twice. It was still pretty cool to see it in person. Also heard that on Friday evening a fly fishermen landed two tarpon at the end of the jetty. Thursday and Friday the water was super clear, flat with almost no wind or weeds. Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday was real windy, bunch of weeds, and clarity wasn't all that great compared to Thursday and Friday morning. _________________ Work is for people who dont know how to fish! |

We went out Saturday from 5-8:30 pm. Walked to the end to look for tarpon, kings, etc. Did not see anything on the surface. Little to no bait around. The water looked nice so I was really surprised by the lack of activity.
Only thing we saw caught were bull reds in the channel. I want to say we saw 6 landed. Every one of them was kept and none of them were tagged. I really wish that the game wardens would hit that place more...like every day!! I would guess that the majority of violations occur on jetties and piers and those are the easiest places for wardens to patrol. Except for the whole walking thing anyway. |

Fished BHP on Tuesday and the gaff tops were out in force. I usually find them just after the big bite turns off. Anyway we took 11 gaffs for a fry. We landed 1 redfish 26" and got to play with a HUGE tarpon. The tarpon hit a perch that had been swimming around the back side of the south T on a float for about 6 hours, it jumped and tail walked for around five minutes before breaking off my 60# fluorocarbon leader. Estimates from the experts on the pier ranged the tarpon at around 7' but that may get bigger the more I tell the story. _________________

All day. From 7 til 6. The tarpon were rolling in the morning and then again in mid afternoon. Hooked up with it around four. _________________
