Drove past the spillway and it sure looked brown tinted, up in there.

My question is should the company that runs the power plant be allowed to pump in water from Laguna that has "issues" like brown or red tide and discharge it into Oso which might not be having those issues.

Never thought about it till today.
If so they could be damaging the grass beds in the upper Oso.

Just wondering

Yes, the power plant is drawing water from the Laguna and dumping it in the OSO. Did the same thing during the last Brown tide bloom in the '90s.
I'm sure it's damaging the grass in the OSO Bay cutting off the sunlight.
To think the OSO would be isolated from the bloom if not for the power plants discharge. hmmmmmmmm? I would think because of the lower salinity levels in the OSO the bloom won't last.....just my thoughts.

I wondered why the Oso got so brown so fast.
I had thought the brown tide would have had to go past NAS-CCAD or out the ICW into Corpus Christi Bay....and then get washed back into Oso.

Topaz Energy is the name of the company that oversees operations of the Barney Davis plant. Give 'em a call I'm sure they'll stop it if you ask.
