We were on the sand by 6:30 am. Driving was excellent both b4 and after high tide. A lot of fresh sargassum was seen washed up and thinned out the farther south you went. After high tide at 10:12am small amounts of sargasam was seen in the water but not enough to cause any real problems. water looked clear greenish with the pretty blue stuff out behind it about 600 hards or so.
First stop was around the 23 mm then 30ish and last stop was around 40 mm. We were unable to catch any bait with the net. We caught a few small whiting and more hardheads than i could count. We tossed live shrimp, and shrimp and crab fish bites in every color with no luck. We were not set up for sharks nor were we expecting to have any runs but runs we got.
My uncle while reeling in a hard head gets a big hit and ends up reeling in a hardhead head that had been bit in half. After that we had 4 more hits that bit straight thru our lines so I rerigged and sent out a large fillet of hardhead and some cut whiting. 10 minutes later I am hooked up. It was about a 5 ft black tip. Got him right over the first sand bar were he made a run south on top of the water. Looked cool watching him on top of the water. Shortly after that my circle was spit or slipped and he was gone.
All in all we had fun but came back empty handed. We will be heading back out Saturday 22-25 with a large group. We are planning to hit the cut. Hopefully with better luck. We will be staying in N padre till Monday night. We won't be doing to much fishing today but will be back at it tomorrow if any one has any recommendations if not we will be fishing the Pack Jetties. Hope is helped. _________________ Wishin I was fishin. |

| We were at the 28 with big rods and managed 3 blacktips on whiting. Little rods yelled mostly hardheads, with a couple whiting and 1 pomp, all hooked with dead shrimp. |
