I was cruising down crosstown a few years back and noticed one of these low lifes finishing a meal from McDonalds while driving. When he finished the food, he placed everything back in the bag and threw it out his driver side window right next to me. I caught up with him, rolled down the window, extended my middle finger as far as it would go and screamed obscenities at him. Probably not the most effective method of encouraging him to change his behavior, but it sure made me feel better.

My Dad taught us how important it was to respect the environment at a very early age. I remember a road trip to Lake Livingston when we were kids. One of my Dad's friends was leading the way and decided to throw a can out the window. Dad made him pull over and walk back to get the can and then he gave his friend a tongue lashing for his behavior right in front of us. That made me realize how important it is to keep our environment clean. I think there is a real problem with the lack of training that some folks are giving their children today. It is a generational problem and continues to get worse for some reason.

Maybe as a condition of getting "welfare" folks should have to clean up their neighborhoods or other parts of the city. Then at least we are getting something for our dollars. I really don't know how to change this behavior, but it really is out of control in this area.

If I see another rolled up diaper in my parking lot, I just might go ballistic and end up on the news myself!

Yep...I've seen this deplorable behavior as well. All I can say is my daddy taught me better. These scumbags just figure its someone else's job to clean it up. So sad.

People are divided into givers and takers in this world. Wish there were more givers. Many just transfer their problems to others. It's a sad human condition. I live in a fairly rural area so this and much worse happens daily on my street and often in front of my property.

Whenever I walk BHP with my kid (who is now 3.5) we usually pick up trash and toss it in the trash cans. I usually make it a point to say some passive aggressive comments when my 3.5 year old is tidying up after some of the lazy sacks of poop out there.

Plus its way good Karma in the bank for my fishing trips!

Look up (Don't Mess With Texas) and you can find the info. you need to turn them in, the State will send them a trash bag and a letter stating that someone saw them dumping trash. I do it all the time, and yes It makes you feel better.

So you came up with conclusion that the individual that littered was on welfare?

No - he came up with the conclusion that the sob was a "lowlife" because he threw his trash out the window. A conclusion I wholeheartedly agree with!!!!

Notice it was "welfare" in quotations. I agree the people he was taking about are definitely low life's.

I'm in the giver / educator/ leader/ comedian, class. When people talk about trashy people I always think of the area under Packery bridge. The area on the right hand side as you are headed toward SPID. It is so trashed up from the lazy fat slobs sitting there fishing and drinking brewskis and tossing the cans and whatever else over their shoulders.

So the stripes bag that flys out of a majek or haynie is from a welfare recipient?

Just not a big fan of people branding a demographic.

Of course there are exceptions, but drive through a "welfare" neighborhood or project and drive through a middle class neighborhood, doesn't take long to figure out people take pride in what they work for, not what is given to them.

Do you really believe bags flying out of boats are contributing more to the problem than diapers being dumped in parking lots?

I see two things that I think I can make very accurate judgements on people.
1. What does a smoker do with his/ her butt
2. What does a shopper do with their shopping cart after loading groceries into their car.
Either choice is an indicator of is it all about me or does the person see the big picture and know they themselves play a roll in a successful, good, clean community.

The welfare comment to me is accurate to the point that as people continue to feel they are owed something from others it creates an attitude of its someone else's problem/responsibility. But I still see so many great people who do the right thing.
