Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me get into some jacks. If anyone knows of a place (that's not too secret) where I might find them and also some effective fly patterns I sure would appreciate any info anyone has. Thanks. _________________ Addicted to fly fishing the salt... |

PINS would be my suggestion. Show up just as the sun is coming up and head south looking for them. The water still needs to warm up some. I use a baitfish fly. Something called a Sandifer fly which is similar to a Peanut butter fly. This was from Nov. and they were eating croaker so I just grabbed the closest looking fly I had and it worked. Make sure your tackle is up for it. They are beasts on the fly.

Hey robdog thanks a bunch for the reply! Awesome video too. Me and my brother are looking to get into some jacks on our trip down this year. I really appreciate the information. Thats crazy how the croaker were beaching themselves. I bought a rig to deal with them hopefully, it's a 10 weight rig with a Hardy Zane reel. We were planning on coming down around the first week of October or so, is this a good time for the PINS jack action? You said the one in the video is from november, so I was wondering if October would work? Again I sure appreciate the help and info.

| Billy said the jacks should be showing up this week. According to all his logs this is when it generally starts. As for pattern, Robdog has the one. |

They'll hit almost anything in front of them that moves quickly and has some flash in it. Don't forget the bite tippet! _________________ "The only thing necessary for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing." Edmund Burke
