| Does anyone know of a place locally that can galvanize a trailer. I know of a couple places in Houston that can dip a entire trailer. But I was hoping to find someone local |

| I haven't been around the business in a while. Several of the steel supply companies will send lots to Houston to be done. If you just have a little bit, they will probably put yours in with another batch..........cC |

When you get it done let us know how it comes out and what you had to do as far as getting it done. It will be some useful information to others I'm sure. thanks _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

| We got some Trailer Coat galvanized paint to touch up our trailer axles at work thats holding up pretty good. Think it was $24/quart from seaworthy marine. Jason Slocum |

| After contacting Southwest Galv the rough estimate is $400 to dip the entire trailer. So after I install new springs, axle and weld in a cross member looks like I will be making a trip to SA. |

If you installing new leaf springs, they will no longer be springs if you have them Galvanized (Hot dipped). The temperature that the zinc is melted at
will take the tension out of the springs.
If you putting a new axle under the trailer why not put a torsion axle on the trailer? no springs, much better way to go, will last longer and the axle is already galvanized.

| Good point. I was thinking more in the lines of having everything coated for the extra protection. |

Just went through that drill last summer. SW galvanizing in SA has a bit smaller tank than SW gal in Houston, so depending on trailer size they will charge a bit more because they have to double dip, but at 400, thats not bad. Have all your tools ready to remove EVERYthing from the frame. Highly recommend you break all nuts (especially spring bolts) and retighten prior to making the trip. I had to hacksaw mine off in the yard at high noon in July . The guys at SW aren't going to help, so be prepared. Probably want to take your axels/wheel with you, and be prepared to wait a coulpe of weeks. They hesitate to do rims, but I managed to talk them into it. Overall I'm very pleased with their work. Good luck. |
