My brother in Houston called today with bad news. Our Brother, 54 year old Larry, somehow fell off the dive boat he has been working on. According to Jimmy this happened 2 weeks ago offshore of Key West aboard the dive boat, Sea Eagle." Jimmy said he just talked with Larry for the first time today and Larry is headed in for his 5th or 6th surgery tomorrow to try to save his foot and the other leg. This is very serious, but according to Larry, he is expecting a good recovery. Please pray for guidance and no infections. I am thankful the prop hit his legs and not somewhere else and that Larry somehow had the strength and was able to get back to the surface for his rescue. Thanks to all who have already and those who are still working, to save his legs and his life. I searched 2013 propeller accidents and this is what I found. "Commercial Vessel 27 March 2013 KeyNews. "Mates Leg Caught in Propeller" reports a shipmate on the Sea Eagle area dive boat, was injured Tuesday Morning. He was cut by it's propeller while the boat was enroute to the Cayma Salvor wreck South of Key West. The injury call came in to USCG at 11:32 AM. JEMS said the Sea Eagle is a 60 ft. 37 Ton Charter Boat. Larry Edens, divemaster, was the injured party. He slipped off the vessel and suffered propeller cuts to both his legs. Edens was life flighted to Miami. Eight passengers were on board. They note the Sea Eagle appeared in the Bond film, License To Kill.

Thank you for your thoughts and concerns. I just got back this morning after a long week on the road and over 3000 miles. The trip had it's high and lows. I came close to a melt down when my wife sent me to the wrong address in Miami when I arrived after dark close to 9PM last Saturday night. She sent me to East 36th Street instead of NW 36th street. Well, East 36th Street is right in the middle of "Overtown" which was made famous in the show, "The First 48." I luckily found a Miami Police Officer who was as concerned about my location as I was. I was right in the middle of a street party and I think I was just about to be the main attraction! The officer helped me get out of there and headed in the right direction. Thank you Mr. Miami Police man! I will not describe Larry's injuries but will say this. He has had 7 surgeries on his legs and he was in the operating room for over 9 hours Tuesday. Only time will tell how this turns out. We are all hoping that he can return back to the same dive boat he was injured on sometime in the future. He is a picture of Larry in the early 80's on a charter boat he ran out of Port Aransas. "Pirate Larry" is the one holding the two snapper.

Sunset on Choctaw Beach in Florida late Friday evening. This was across the bay from Destin on HWY 20.
