Anyone have an update on tourney anglers who were involved in the accident? Anyone know the names of the two tournament anglers?

I would say visibility was about 100 yards or so at best.

Fished the tourney,we were delayed till right at 8am , the operator of the tournament boat was a past student of mine, back when I was teaching school. From his account he was idling in from channel to location to start drift , when he was hit. Was told the fishing guide just got back his capt. lisc, from Coast Guard.... dont know how true that is, just what was being said. In the end its a bad deal for both parties, and glad no one died.

IT going to be interesting as maritime law is way different.

Seems like alot find some kind of fault with the guide. Why don't you wait until the Coast Guard MSO gives his findings. Then you can bash whoever is at fault. This guide has a reputation that is being ran into the ground on message boards and on facebook without anyone thinking that this could end his career. Not cool! Especially coming from people that were not there and don't know him or what trully happened. What will the finger pointers say if it comes back that the tournament boat was at fault? Will you publicly apologize as effortlessly as you pointed the finger? With your apology, does that mean he won't have a black cloud hanging over him? Would you like it if people did that to you?

Yes sir hogheaven, your correct the guide that was involved in the collision
had just gotten his license back from the USCG.....HE RENEWED IT LAST FALL, guides need to renew the license every five years, the CG reviews the renewal and then mails a new one.
Sounds to me like the tournament fisherman is grabbing at straws.

IMHO seems both were at fault for running in the foggy conditions. We'll see
after everyone is talked to and the investigation is complete.
One thing I've been wondering about....who was the person who said it was OK to continue the tournament in the foggy conditions and what type of
credentials they had to make that decision?
I understand the USCG is asking the same question.

Seems to be a bad decisions on both sides of the fence.

My buddy sent pics of their catch from this past weekend. Said visibility was 100 yards or less up until around 10a in the badlands. He said a few boats flew by them and he was as scared as he'd ever been thinking they were going to get run over, run aground or hit something. Said they putterred around til the fog lifted. Glad noone got hurt, nothing worse than hearing stuff like this as its an example that it could happen to anyone, anytime.

Could have fooled me. If your familiar with the renewal process then the statement you typed about the guide just getting his license back from the CG was to make people think that the guide had his license taken away by the CG and is returning it. right?
