Folks,
I'm a brand new poster on here but read this board religiously for years!
I had a bad experience Sunday while fishing Nueces Bay. We put in at the bridge (park) and ran the river to the bay in order to escape some of the wind, ect.
We put in at 7:30 am and returned around 2:00pm. My buddy went to get the rig to load the boat and my brand new '07 Avalanche had the drivers side window busted out, the hatches on the sides crow barred open as well as my back.
They stole all our luggage and 3 pairs of waders. (we were in Baffin Saturday)
They totally ramsacked the inside...but took nothing out of it (Thank God).
Anyway, the cop said they never have burglarys around there as they frequently patrol that area. They took probably a couple hundred dollars worth of clothes/luggage.....and about $600.00 worth of waders. All that to say they did over 4K worth of damage to my new truck. I had to drive all the way to Austin with my driver's window out (in the rain)!
If you see three pair of Orvis waders at the Corpus pawn shops......they are mine!!!!!!!!!!!!
I fish up and down the coast....and this is the first time I have ever been ripped off! |

I used to do work down the river, and I had the window busted out of our work truck there before. We didn't even have anything in the truck for anyone to steal. The cops are out there more but that is a bad spot. We also had a sticker put on the truck one day by a cop that said someone had reported someone outside our truck trying to break in. People I guess reliezed that most of these trucks will be there all day before someone comes back, and they are hiting up lots of parking areas that fishermen use. Sorry man I know that sucks.

I don't see why you guys don't "bait" them one weekend for the redneck fun of it. Skunk, Rats or something in a suit case in the back of your truck..... or just have a friend waiting and follow them and call the cops or handle it yourself, use them for bait at BHP. _________________ Happy Hook'n

New Water,
I frequently visit that park as that is where do some studying. Quiet place to get away from the kids.
I am there at least 3 times a week, and there is some weird stuff that goes on around there.
Bums use the palce as a rest point, dope heads make their transactions, and love birds do their business.
Just a couple of weeks ago, I drove by a car on a Sunday morning that had two people in it. Needless to say, driver had seat in reclined position and face of passenger was in driver's seat if you get the picture. As they drove by me a few minutes later, both GUYS(?) had smiles on their faces.
Cops do patrol the area a lot, and I have called in the drug activity, but it is still a spot susceptible to crime.
Probably will not matter, but I will keep my eye out for the thieves. |

That area is bad. I grew up in Annaville, and the crime levels are higher when it comes to theft, property destruction, etc., than in the city.
Knowing alot of people that live along the river and in the neighborhoods in the flood plain there (like the barrio). I would never leave my car parked there unattended.
Tell you what kinds of people live out there. I had my bike stolen and my car broken into twice out in Annaville, both times they took all my stereo equipment, and on the second time, my Viper car alarm!
Found out a few months after the second break in, that one of my friends I had known since the 2nd grade was the culprit! _________________ GOBZA!!!

I was fishing off laguna shores friday, near the blue gas lines. Two punks tried opening my truck while I was wading about 200 yards away.Managed to scare them off by yelling, had to stop fishing though. They drove away in a little green neon kinda beat up looking. _________________ rick |

| Really, really sad. I grew up down there and now I don't know anyone in the upper 2/3s of the state that even slow down going thru CC - much less stop there - including me. I don't think you can get robbed in Houston as fast as you can down there...and I definitely know the cops don't much bother themselves with such trivia as fishermen getting robbed. |

what he said x2. I turned out to be a productive member of society courtesy of a couple parents who weren't scared to be parents and let me know right from wrong with either the large black belt or doing manual labor for free, my mom couldn't spank hard enough lol so I would have to do all kinds of crappy jobs that no one wanted to do and for free but it teaches you something.
I had my truck broken into a while back also but it was my ex-girlfriend's fault....she let someone watch her put her purse in the floorboard of the truck in plain site. I didn't check, I thought she had the common sense to make sure that it was under the seat and not in plain view. I think that is the biggest key...out of site, out of mind. _________________ still chasing my 30" trout |
