Back in the '40s and '50s when I was just a boy there were TWO piers on the beach at Port Aransas and of course nothing on Padre Island. I don't know if the piers were run by the county or contracted to individuals but I remember well there was no admission fee and they were crowded ALL the time. And because there was always people on the pier the snack bar was crowded too and they were dependable to have a good supply of fresh and frozen bait. Ah the good ol' days. But as for now, let's give the new guy running the parks a chance. He might have some new ideas that work.

Certainly hope that the new guy comes through. Learn from the past to make a better future.

I think we should limit the number of fishing poles and run a universal background check prior to admittance.

Might want to search tackle boxes too!

Oh Wait! that won't change anything.

As it is now, they have a 4 pole limit but you will have people taking in more poles than that when the office is closed.

No admission would be nice. I don't pier fish a lot but I like to walk the pier after work sometimes.

x2 I haven't fished BHP in a long time, but when I'm on the island, I always seem to end up there for a leisurely stroll. Very Happy
