Thursday: Gulftrout took me on a tour today. Threw red plastics all day long. Boxed 6 fish; 5 trout, and 1 red. Thanks, GT

No size to brag about, but will never know it while dining on them.

I was late to the ramp and was not really in a hurry because I was cold! Right when I was about to back the boat in everyone arrived at once to launch. I went ahead and pulled my rig out of the way so an A&M Corpus Christi research boat could launch and get out on the bay to do their work. I talked them into a quick picture before they headed to the back.

Next to launch was Captain Jack Nelson. I told him I was going to put the GPS coordinates to "ALL" his favorite reefs on the internet. Shocked He was not amused and gave me a cold hard stare, but his charter for the day had a good laugh. It was a beautiful day weather wise but the fish catching was tough. We first started on the reefs behind the Portland Causeway, but did not have a bite. We then tried the shallow reefs around the island you can see from the causeway. I managed 3 throwbacks while "shallowsport" talked on his phone discussing business. After no keepers east of the first highline I decided it was time to take a little run. The water west of the the 1st highline was muddy and stayed that way almost all the way to "White Point." Their was a set of reefs SE of Whites Point that was holding clear water. Shallolwsport picked up the 1st and 2nd keeper here. I still had not caught a keeper as I headed into Odem Bay. Our first stop produced nothing, but our next three produced two keeper trout and a 21"red. There were three tournament boats in the area with waders in the water from two of them. The wind was starting to pick up so I decided to get back to the front of the bay before "Old Nueces" gave us both a beating. I fished a few reefs in the Hunt's Airport area and picked up another keeper. My next stop was going to be near the trailer park reefs but a tournament boat beat me to the spot. We called it a day and headed to the ramp. Nothing like a beautiful day, a few fish and good company! Smile
