Entered the gate about 12:30pm on Saturday. Light drizzle, cloudy with a moderate wind coming out of the SSE. We set up camp around the 8 mile mark or so. It was our Catahoula's (Third Bird) first trip to the beach and her nose was covered in sand and going a mile a minuet. We fished with dead shrimp, dead mullet, Gulp! and Fish Bites. We fished from about 1:45 till 5 or 6pm. The wind started howling and we had to call it a night.
The wind took out one of our tents, luckily we had another set up. After our pile of firewood ran out we hit the hay and started back fishing at 7:30am. The seaweed was something awful. After pulling in nothing but weeds for the better part of a hour and a half we packed it on up and headed home. I will post some pictures a little later on. Thanks for viewing and take it easy!

Thanks for the report. Did the wind just rip up the tent or did it pull it out of the ground? If it pulled it out of the ground, try taking some 6" long pieces of 1x2 lumber and drilled a 3/8" hole in the middle. Take a piece of rope about 2ft long and on one end tie it to the 1x2, the other end tie on one of the dollar store carabiners. Make enough of these to replace all your tent stakes plus have maybe 4 extras in case you want to setup a tarp, EZ Up, or anything else that could easily blow away. Also works good for using as anchors for your rods as a backup in case your rod stakes break. When you get to the beach, dig a hole about 18" deep, place the 1x2 into the hole with the rope coming out of the ground, pack the sand back into the hole, and then take a rope tied to the corner of the tent where the stake goes and tie it to the carabiner. You can adjust the tension as you see fit. If you have a problem with the top blowing inwards, tie a rope year the top or at the top and tie it to the anchors. Now you have a tent that will never blow away.

Sounds like a very good tip. You should make a YouTube video or post step by step pictures that shows what you are talking about. I am trying to picture what you describe, but cant put an image to your words. Sounds like your tip could help a lot of people out.

Basically bury a board in the sand and tie the tent to it.
Sand anchors work pretty durn well. You can also collect beach trash, buckets or barrels or whatever and fill them with sand to use for anchoring various things.
