keep finding rat reds. after i catch a couple, i'll change my pattern a bit trying to find a keeper. no luck. i'd be interested to hear some opinions/advice on the probability of a slot running with the juvies, or is it merely an aggressive school of undersize?

I am no red expert, BUT I seems with other species I target, like trout, tend to have much more aggressive juveniles. If a big one is nearby, it'll be under or at the edge of the school. Maybe use a bigger lure the smaller fish aren't as interested in. However, many times the "biggun" just isn't hanging out with the baby fish. I would probably move spots if that was the case.

Had the same problem they are smart. Finally put out some Decon with birdseed mixed in.....no more rats. They get smart with traps real quick. But they have to eat. Just put the Decon were no pets can get to it or it will kill them to.

Fishing the outer edge and a little deeper
With a bigger bait for trout. Tried it on the last
Few packs of juvie reds without luck.
