Took shallowsport this morning, gulftrout could not make it, water was cold and the clearest I have ever seen.Weather report was like the officiating, bad. Called for light winds around 2 mph and when we got there winds were howling like a werewolf on a full moon. Immediately took shallowsport to a deep hole so we could both fill our waders with water. Now that we are awake we concentrated on catching the elusive and wary Trout. Needless to say the trout were like the Notre Dame football team and did not show up. We fished hard and all we caught was one sheephead (on an artificial). Anyway a great day on the water and was able to meet an fish with an outstanding person and fisherman.

I've never caught a sheepshead on an artifical. He must have been starving. Very Happy Funny report...2 thumbs up.

Should not have said anything about first time fishing trips with "the new guy". But I did. Told him that I rarely do well, even in my best spots, when taking someone for the first time. Tha's especially true if you brag up the spot.
BigRed, and I mean "Big", did his best to put us on fish. Bet we covered nearly three miles. And I believe this will be an excellent spot in the future. But as for today....cold, wet, and tired.
Thanks again, BigRed. Hope we get to try it again sometime.

Better luck next time. Had a hard time getting fish to bite today as well.

Yeppers, big is correct, the only thing that sucks about fishing with him is he can go a foot deeper than most of us can before getting wet in the waders.

I have fished that area for over 35 years and I hate a west wind in that area so bad I will not even go there anymore with those conditions if at all possible. I DO wish I could have went but my wife reminded me of my Christmas present to her, have a garage sale the first weekend it is possible and get rid of some of my "Hoard". Laughing If I would have went it sounds from your report I would have been in trouble. I am only 5'8" so ya'll would have had to take turns pulling me around on a float of some sort! Very Happy I was VERY anxious to go fishing with you since I had read a few of your fishing reports from the area. Thanks again for the invitation and maybe, next summer I can tag along. Wink Smile

I caught a huge sheepshead on a chickenboy lure this summer. Talk about a shocker when it came up. Laughing
