| Any of you guys ever fish the Horace Caldwell Pier/Charlies Pasture in Port A? Port A in general during winter? Seems like most of the guys here fish BHP/PINS. Was just curious, I've actually never fished BHP or PINS so I'm the opposite of most. I'll be down for 6 days next week, PUMPED! |

I haven't been for a long time, but years ago when I was young the first place we'd stop would be Charlie's Pasture. It's change a LOT since back then, but seemed like there was always something to be caught out there. I remember one trip where your line wouldn't be in the water 30 seconds and you'd have a big Red on the line. That pier was shoulder to shoulder with people and everyone was hammering them that day. _________________ JJ |

| Ya I actually haven't even fished it yet, only drove by to scope things out. In October when I was there, pier was packed with people catchin trout, hell of a current that runs through there. I'm headed down next Wednesday so I'll be reporting my success on the different locations in Port A. |

That current can be insane off CP pier. One time a couple years ago I was messing around with the mostly undersized trout in the lights and a 5' hammer came through and started giving them hell. It can be sketchy after dark though, keep an eye on your stuff. HC can be good aswell, but usually the fishing off the jetties just down from the pier can produce more. _________________ www.GetOnSeaLevel.com |

| Ya we stood and watched a guy catch dink trout with a fly rod off CP in that current like they were going out of style! I've heard stories of decent size shark cruising through and rowlin' things up. Hope I have some luck, I'll be giving reports and posting pictures. |

Live shrimp dropped straight down from Charlie's pasture peir will usually produce all the mangroves a person could want. Same thing at the jetties close to the rocks. _________________ Jake |

Big cold front coming through Sunday night but it looks like the weather will be pretty nice by Wednesday.
Another option to consider is the North Jetty. I only fish it during the winter/spring, and it can be outstanding this time of year. With the cooler water temps next week, the trout should start showing up.
I'll probably be out there at some point later in the week. _________________ I'd rather be fishing |

Ya we usually just hit surf and Horace Caldwell...fish off the rocks in the ship channel, haven't really ever fished the NJ either. Winds aren't supposed to be too strong, highs will be in low 70's so should be nice. Might try and yak some baits out, break out the big rods. This trip, going to try NJ and Charlies, see what we can scroung up, hell man, come fish with us, have a beer. |

NJ is a good place... if your yaking baits thatll probably be your best bet. I may be out there sunday-monday depending on work/weather.
Good luck!
