Buy you an electric smoker like Masterbuilt, set it and forget it! Hard to screw up because temps are so easy to control. If you want something easy that you don't have to jack with, I think that would be your best bet.

Check out the forums at thesmokering.com
When I first started doing competition bbq I always placed last. I spent some time on there and picked up a lot of ideas and now I have won a few cookoffs.

If I were to buy s smoker now, it would be a Great Outdoors Smoky Mountain 20" x 34" Gas Smoker. The price is right and an old member of my BBQ team has used his for years and it works great at $159.

He has replaced his wood smoke box with a small cast iron skillet after the wood box burned out.

Here is a place to start.

http://barbequesaucerecipe.net/friends.html

I have a site that I sell recipes to people with corn allergies. It is the above site, converted for free to friends. Also, I have a few videos at the menu items on the left. The Ribs using the 3-2-1 Method is a good starting point. http://tinyurl.com/bdtjnka

I have been using McCormick's Rib Tickler BBQ rub from HEB lately. It is what Johnny Trigg uses on his ribs. I no longer use the panSaver bags, like in the video, just wrap tightly with foil.

I use ugly drum smokers. Google UDS. I love when I go up to collect my awards at a bbq cookoff and people realize that even with a $40,000 pit on a trailer, they lost to a guy cooking on a trashcan.

I'm glad you liked my site. Our go-to BBQ sauce is the Pineapple BBQ sauce, although we have been hurting the Vinegar Based sauce with the Boston Butt we did last week.

I'm a big rib fan. I found this thread on a BBQ site about ribs. Lots of info
