I want to add a recoil pad to a Marlin .30-30 I recently bought. Anyone have a recommendation of a gunsmith who can do this kind of work? I'm in Corpus Christi. Thanks.

I recommend you doing it yourself! But if not then I would recommend Benny Hill. A fair warning though let him no exactly what you want. He is a great guy and a even better shooter but he tends to do what he wants to peoples weapons rather than what they ask for. Other than him I do not know anyone local that would bother with a recoil pad. Benny Hill out of Triangle Gun Shop. Actually, I believe Texas gun shop has a smith and I am certain they can handle that kind of light work.

Thanks Gunbuyer. Doing it myself is probably what I am going to end up doing it appears. Whether I do it or a smith, I'm putting on a Pachmayr Decelerator Pad.

You may want to look at the Kick-Eze pads too. They seem to reduce felt recoil better than the Decellerator pads. Sharpshooter can install them for you if need be.

Thanks Mad Hatter. I'm not familiar with that brand, but I'll sure research it. Truthfully, I'm really looking more to adding length to the stock than I am concerned about recoil.

Dont take it to texas gun shop! They told me two weeks they'd have my stoger 2000 fixed (ejector arm). Well its been there since august!!!

My Moissan-Nagant has a standard Russian-issue steel plate for a recoil pad. Every round puts hair on your chest and makes you more attractive. If it hurts, you simply don't have enough vodka in your bloodstream.

I talked to the guys at Drury's (maybe misspelled) in San Antonio about a year ago and I think they told me they had 2 or 3 certified gun smiths on staff. They are the only ones I know of. There are a couple of gun enthusiasts around that go under the assumption as being a gun smith.
