Whats up fellow Fishermen!
Long time reader and first time poster as I finally came across something that my hours and hours of reading here couldn't clarify!
As we all know the winter is upon us and fortunately for me I have two excursions planned for PINS!
Heading out this weekend as well as the second weekend in December for some surf fishing BUT as i began to think it has been a very long time since i have been to the surf in the winter and my real question is - IS THE WATER TO COLD TO VENTURE OUT CHEST HIGH?
if the answer is YES, what is the preferred method (waders or neoprene suit) for getting out when a kayak is not possible?
If anyone has a brand or type they dont mind sharing the details with it would be nice to hear. |

Welcome aboard! As far as water being to cold...depends on who ya ask! Personally, i wear waders this time of year, not so much cause i get cold, but it keeps me dry and i dont end up with butt rash! I use the simms gortex breathables....very light versus neoprene. With that said....anytime the water gets into the low 70s with a 10-15 mph wind...yeah then i wear em cause im cold!

| its not the water temp you really have to worry about.. its the air temp once you get out of the water and the wind. just go in a bathing suit and take a towel to dry off and then throw on some sweat pants once your dry. |

on the right side is the 42020 bouy info 50mi out...
if you pick around the site, you'll find conditions for diff areas...
that said... 74 degree surf during Nov-Dec is way different than 74 degree
Comal/Guadalupe or Frio river water during a hot summer day tubing 
I use the big toe method myself

Welcome. I normally use light breathable waders though I have seen folks use neoprene diving or surf suits.

I am heading to Bass Pro to check their selection and Academy as well!
My buddy just told me "get the waders and just duct tape them around your waist to ensure no water gets in "

I voted to secede from the union to become the United State Of Texas. It will never happen even though Texas has the right to do so it was written in the laws after the Civilwar if my Texas history is correct. Too much involved, such as social security, and retirement pensions, to start with. However it fun to be a Rebel for just a minute.

Not Exactly
From the Texas Secede website:
Q: Doesn't the Texas Constitution reserve the right of Texas to secede?
A: This heavily popularized bit of Texas folklore finds no corroboration where it counts: No such provision is found in the current Texas Constitution (adopted in 1876) or the terms of annexation. However, it does state (in Article 1, Section 1) that "Texas is a free and independent State, subject only to the Constitution of the United States..." (note that it does not state "...subject to the President of the United States..." or "...subject to the Congress of the United States..." or "...subject to the collective will of one or more of the other States...")
