"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."

I got this from a friend:
"A democracy cannot exit as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy."
Hope people figure our it is better to live in a democracy than a dictatorship or a monarchy. Guess we will have to endure till the next REVOLUTION to boot out KING GEORGE again. _________________ Where's the March Hare???.. |

Furthermore,
The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to selfishness;
From selfishness to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage. _________________ Fish hard. You never know when you'll make you last trip south. |

I guess my take would be:
From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
Took 200 years to get here
From abundance to selfishness; 80's
From selfishness to complacency; 90's
From complacency to apathy; 2000's
From apathy to dependence; Legislated over last 5 years
From dependence back into bondage.
Sped through those markers over the 30-40 years
So how do we get people to understand the dependence to bondage cliff we are standing at. Maybe accepting personal responsibility can get us back to that "courage to liberty" marker.

I just don't get it. Back in the 60's it was the political persuasion that shall not be mentioned that didn't lilke civil rights movement. They didn't like Affirmative Action. They didn't like Kenedy because he was too conservative. How the hell did this all get changed around? The devil did a good job about getting people to believe he doesn't exist. _________________ Where's the March Hare???.. |

And that is one of the main reasons that the founders gave us a REPUBLIC, NOT A DEMOCRACY!!!!!!!
We are awash in a world of Saul Alinsky spin and BS where propaganda and lies become truth because people refuse to educate themselves on what's really happening in their country, thus remaining ignorant of the facts. Being a republic is just the tip of a very large iceburg my good friends, and a very sad state of affairs indeed....... _________________ Dave

Blame a Texan.
After signing the Civil Rights Act of 1964, LBJ said,"We have lost the South for a generation."
Later, a rascal named Lee "The Boogie Man" Atwater helped shape the current GOP tactics. _________________ "Money will buy you a fine dog, but only love can make him wag his tail." - Kinky Friedman

meh, we are seeing the same result as a pure democracy with our political persuasion that shall not be mentioned republic, perhaps at a slower pace. As long as being elected is more important to our politicians than doing the right thing we will continue down the same road. _________________ JJ |

Way back when, the founders were leaving after the long hard work of coming up with a government. A lady stopped Ben Franklin to ask how it had gone and the result. He is supposed to have quipped "We have given you a republic, if you can keep it"!
We weren't set up as a political persuasion that shall not be mentioned republic, but have morphed into one with the ensuing problems that the founders foresaw. They were way ahead of their time!!!!! _________________ Dave
