it's been a few years since I posted a message so as I head back to San Antonio now seems like a good time. Don't get me wrong, I've kept up with this board I just don't get to fish as much as I use to. I decided to meet my son Aaron, who now lives in Corpus for a PINS trip. I left SA Saturday at 3am with my youngest son Joe and future son-in-law Chuy. We met Aaron at the HEB Plus in Flour Bluff and hit the sand by 6am. We headed south and decicded to fish at 17.5. Aaron immediately hooked a 4lb pomp and Joe caught an 18" whiting. We caught whiting after whiting on fishbites and shrimp. We snagged a few nullet and Chuy caught his first ever Smak. At 2:30 the tide turned and all 4 lines we had in the water got hit. We were able to box a 27" and 25.5" red. We lost the other two reds, one because of a poor knot tied by dad and the other to the sandbar. We ended the day with 3 slot reds, 1 pomp, and 4 whiting. We got a later start today and made it to 23 by 8:30. No baitfish = no fish. We caught a mess of whiting all morning then we snagged a few mullet. At about 1:30 Joe got himself a 19" Smak then Chuy caught a 26" and 25" red. We decided to head in at 2:30. A quick shower, some Rudy's BBQ and I said goodbhye to my boy Aaron and headed home. All in all, a great weekend of fishing with a group of young men I love.

It is expensive. When the weekend is done and I account for gas, food, ice, snacks and drinks, I'm about $300 poorer than when I started the weekend. The time I spend with my sons fishing is priceless. Some of our best talks about their future plans and life in general have come on our fishing trips.

Same for me. The clean air and calmness of the surf make for good conversation. Good for you!!!!
