How enormously egocentric and shallow some must be to hold a fishing spot hostage. It must be one helluva life you guys lead if sharing knowledge of a hobby on a message board crosses the line of sanctity. I'm sure some here would sooner reveal their secrets to a spicy marriage than dare let another guy enjoy the fruits of a great day on the water. Afterall lines cant be crossed in the ultra competitive cut throat world of recreational fishing. I can understand an upper tier guide but acting as if fishing is some kind of personal passage of privilege that has to be earned rather than shared is as pathetic as taking grandma's cookie recipe to the grave. Maybe if some here would commit to helping others as much as possible you'd be rewarded with a greater satisfaction than secretive message board fishing hero.

Are you kiddng me? Do you really expect veteran anglers on this board to just openly post up and share spots for thousands of people to see? You sir, must be drunk.

If you want to give up a spot..go for it....

Personally ive spent hours, paddling a lot of miles, been skunked plenty, and dealt with a ton of idiotic weather conditions to find my fishing spot...

and there were plenty of other anglers that found and dominated those spots before i was even born....

if you want a place that will catch one or two, maybe once in a long blue moon catch limits, then by all means ask away...

but if you want to have spots that produce consistently and really test you as an angler then

Hit the water...
Try everything in the tackle box...
yell at the world in frustration...
try something new...
catch fish...
rejoice!

No better feeling than catching next to nothing for 2 years, than one day you find a spot out of determination *hardheadedness really* and it pays off in limits....

But thats just my 2cents Wink

besides ive already given a great "approximate location" specifics depend on wind and water level..all you need to pay attention too..

goodluck out there!

Pretty much what AT said.

I spent months struggling to find fish (other than the occasional lucky cast) when I first moved to Port A. A few old timers pointed me in the right direction, but all that did was "narrow it down".

Not only does it take a lot of time to find the "right" spots, all that time and experience will eventually lead to knowing when to fish where.

Look at reports on here, look at the weather/tides relative to when you plan on going, and adjust accordingly.

Wow... i had no clue that Red Tide showed up so well on google maps!

Honey Holes are sacred spots! If everyone knew about them, they would be stripped of fish like the 3 rigs off Bob Hall.. or you get there on the perfect day to find several others in your sacred spot.. and if you only had enough time to fish a bit, you day is ruined. I have even gone so far as to request someone who found one of mine to kindly not advertise the location via a PM.

Its just good business!

WOW... I just never understood why folks feel entitled to know the locations of someones HH???? Here are a few reasons why i wouldnt. ( lets call this guy...FRED....)

1 Where was fred when i was spending thousands of dollars/hrs trying to locate fish...a lot of times coming home empty and then having to deal with a wife whos po-ed because i spend to much time/money in doing so...OH i know....sleeping in a comfy bed, next to his wife, While im sleeping on the COUCH!

2 Where was FRED, when after breaking shock mts or having to replace a tranny or cutting out and replacing steel from all that canceruose rust....IN the SWEALTERING TEXAS HEAT....You guessed it...Hes all comfy, comfy Hanging with buds drinking some Brews!

3 Then after many years,Trips, Money, time spent,Blood and sweat spilled and finally feeling like im almost there ....you know what Fred is doing .....Hes Sitting all comfy, comfy, on the internet asking me where my HH is....Really!!!

Funny thing is, all the answers to his questions are right in front of him!!!!

Hes just to stupid, or to lazy, to find out the answers on his OWN!!!

By the way...this FRED guy is just a ficticiuose character...not pointed at anyone directly!....Rant over....Have a nice day!

Yes I do. In a world where most people spend 75% of their lives working or handling personal family matters I hardly think their spot will be ruined by thousands of people swarming there every single day from here to eternity. Nothing worse than turning people away to the joys of fishing...it is a tough hobby and no doubt tougher and even more discouraging when those who look for help and guidance are condescendingly met with ego filled attitude.

I feel bad for those who can't spend days and hours fishing for education. The real world is tough and demanding. I'll never be the guy who could truly help those overworked overstressed guys/gals hav a great day off but doesn't because I want it all for me. This world could do with a lot less people like that. It's a hobby, I'm obviously not speaking to those make a living doing this.

But just for good measure as a business owner I've helped my competition many times. There's enough to go around for all of us. We're talking about fishing, not gold digging, not food rationing. This isn't about survival. Some here are like those peewee football dads that put their 6 year old through extensive training. Way too serious.

I certainly don't intend to trivialize the hard work and time that you guys put in. Most people aren't afforded those luxuries, this is the only hobby I know where sharing and going the extra mile for fellow hobbyists is discouraged. It's a shame.

I really feel for those who don't have a lot of time to dedicate to hobbies they love. I used to be that guy and living, breathing work sucks.
