What normally happens during a deluge overnight down there is that someone in the family is really tired if being wet and miserable, drenched sleeping bags, etc. Laughing

Exactly what happened to us lol. Yes rain rain wind blowing tents over lightning thunder. All night. Surf was up and ripping north. Could not get 10 oz weights to hold. But before that on friday night my wife got a 54 inch black tip. A little later i got a 44 inch. Hopefully thats puts her in good standings in the womens division. Surf was ugly when we rolled off the beach about 2pm

Was thinking about hitting the surf in the AM while my wife is in the Valley. Guess I'll wait a few days.

Talked to a lady Friday who said she had caught a 6ft blacktip and a 5.5ft blacktip. We fished the redfish category and caught several, but nothing real big. Conditions today were very bad.

I was one of the hundreds who evacuated enmasse last night.

Never....have I been so miserable on the beach. Someone definetely dropped the ball on keeping tabs on the weather on this one...

5-7 ft seas when I jetted out. Evil or Very Mad

People are already demanding refunds... Shocked

Mother nature is not always a sweet heart. Sometimes she lets the Banshie loose. I really wanted to get in this year but my truck wasn't going to be ready in time. I lost to much time working on the boat this year.
I don't think anybody will be seeing a refund, this is off the Shark-a-thon Q and A page:Q:

Has the event ever been cancelled?

A:

No, but in the event that the National Seashore is closed to visitors because of any reason, we will reschedule to a later date to be announced in print and publications as well as on the web.

Q:

Can I receive a refund of my entry fee after I have entered the tournament?

A:

All entries are non-refundable.

Like Popeye always said, "Ye pays yer money and ye takes yer chances".

We watched the exodus of trucks passing us heading North on Saturday. Must have been worse further South as it wasn't too bad for us. We got some good rains but nothing too severe. Kayaking out on Saturday sucked big time though, that was brutal.

We fished around the 52. Weather was great all weekend. We had a couple of quick small showers Friday, and a 30 min downpour Saturday night when the front passed, but that was it. The wind and surf picked up gradually through the day Saturday, but nothing horrible.

Caught a few redfish Thursday night and Friday, then nothing Saturday. Overall it was a great trip.
