Japan makes excellent jetty shoes. If you know anyone who goes to Japan or lives there have them send you a pair.

I have three pairs made by Daiwa and cost $80 ea. It comes in tennis shoe type or medium to high cut boot style..prices vary...haha even Peter Parker couldn't hang with me in them shoes at da jetties.

You can also order on line from Japan website - don't know about shipping cost..I'll post the site as soon as I find it. Cool

I've thought of taking an old pair of tennies and putting some galvanized screws thru the sole from the inside, just long enough to poke thru a bit.
Then some tape and a layer of something over the heads inside.
Not proven yet!
Very happy w/ Keens for now.

those strap on ice cleats would work pretty good. When I was in Alaska we used to put hex head screws in the bottom of our boots for ice traction

metal baseball spikes or golf spikes. ether of those work great. i have jumped rock to rock with both types of shoes and have had very few slips.

I've always worn crocs (Aggie ones, of course), and the rocks are a little rough on them, but they work great.

Wetsuit (neoprene) booties work great and also give some ankle protection, although they can be darn warm in the hotter months. These are light colored so they don't act like an oven in the sunshine like most black ones do! Embarassed

Personally, I'd rather have hot/damp feet than be in the drink and shredded by barnacles! Cool

Try a company called Korkers (www.korkers.com), which specializes mostly in technical wade boots for river fly fishing. Just Google it. These shoes come with interchangeable soles, so you don't have to wear down your metal studs when walking on non-slippery surfaces.

The removable soles also allow you to replace a worn pair of soles without buying a new pair of shoes. Locals seem to prefer the Studded Kling-On Rubber Sole, which features a pavement-gripping rubber surface embedded with 13 small pointed metal spikes for penetrating a thin layer of algae. The Korkers HyJack Water Shoe might be the better choice for rock hopping and traversing the really slick stuff. This style looks more like a traditional, lace-up, athletic shoe, but with interchangeable soles. If you chose the HyJack, consider the Studded Rubber Sole (FA3040) with larger more aggressive carbide spikes for serious rock hopping.

I usually go barefoot then my wife bought me some camo crocks and the 1st time I wore em I stumbled and fell on the rocks and cut up both my knees and busted the strap on one of my crocks. I have 2 bad scars and 1 bad crock to show for it. I go barefoot again.

Just my two cents

I would go with Korkers only https://under-the-open-sky.com/best-ice-fishing-boots/ I have felt soled waders, and have no desire to fish the jetty. Fell on my a$$ in sneakers going out to look at a wrecked boat. Dont see how the felt bottom would work any any better My son does however. He has the korkers, and loves fishing out there.
Do yourself a favor if you want to fish the north jetty. Bring someone out there with you, especially if the seas are rough There is no fish worth an injury or your life..

sorry for bumping
