I'm talking about the oval and two mostly complete triangles shown. They are on the island S of the Barney Davis power plant, West of Pita Island. I walked them one day and it almost looks like fill brought in, too coarse for native fill material. They are several feet high...maybe 6-8 IIRC. At one point I thought they were targets for naval bombing practice as Google Earth lets you see old aerial photos and they were these in the 50's. I also wonder if they were hurricane protection for drilling platforms, but they are not continuous and would therefore both drain well and let water pour in on a storm tide.
I dunno...what say you???

Hmmmm I'm thinking the one on the left is martinsville and the one on the right is taladega. _________________ I like fishies |

My guess is something left over from WWII navy training. There are similar shapes on St Joseph's. .
I doubt they are horse tracks, why raise one 6-8 feet? |

My wife is going home for a couple of weeks next week. She lives right on the N.C. VA. stateline you can hear the Martinsville speedway from her parents house. She is from Eden, N.C. . everyone has mag wheels and headers on their vehicles, up there. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |
