So I'm looking at heading down to the Rockport/PortA/Corpus area first week of Oct. I realize that I will be just barely missing the Sharkathon crowds but then I remembered, SURF CATS! Isn't their tournament around Columbus Day weekend?
I've looked around a little online but I don't see any info on a 2012 date.
Anybody have a little more indepth knowledge on this?

I was under the impression that it was the weekend following sharkathon.....dont hold me to that....just what i was told.

A check of their website shows no dates for 2012.
Clicking the "register" link brings up a form for 2010.
On their Facebook page, several people asked about a date for 2012.
There have been no replies, only a mention of a rumor that they had to cancel for this year.

Looks like they might not be having it.

Having been to one of their weigh ins, all i can say is....WOOHOO!!!! Cool

Quite possibly one of the most disturbing things i have ever seen....Long live sharkathon!

I thought they were kicked off of PINS not too long ago?

Yeah I am writing my surf fishing article and wanted to make mention of the dates. I would not be surprised if there was an unofficial surfcats event but a couple of years ago when they declined to get a permit the NPS posted a sign on PINS saying they would prosecute anyone fishing that tournament on PINS. It is always held Columbus Day weekend in October.
