Just bought a break away HDX BAIT CASTER 13 FT ROD, AND LOOKING TO PUT A DIAWA SHA SEALINE. now the good part is all the SHA DIAWA
SEALINE SERIES 20 THROUGH 50 ARE THE SAME PRICE 129.95 WHICH ISNT BAD.I dont know if they are on sale right now or thats the regular
price, thats wierd different reels but yet the same price.I was told that the 40 was better for casting all i want to know why not go with the fifty it has
a wider spool and bigger for the same price. Any one have some experice with both reels i dont think i would go lower than 40,doesnt make sense
for me personally.I can cast a 4/0 real good if helps any in my decision.
Cool

The 50 will hold more line but be slow due to the size of the spool and weight. You will cast better with the 40.
I own 2 HDX's and have 40's on both. I fish with 30lb and a 50lb shock leader.

Surf Dragon,

I do believe all one needs for the HDX is the sealine 30. It has enough line capacity to land a 5 ft shark. It is a casting dream with the 30.

You decide but now you have another 0.02 worth

Later Cliff

Have you talked to Nick at Breakaway??? He can tell you the advantages/disadvantages of putting an SHA 20 - 50 on the HDX for what you want to target.

I got the 30 for my applications.

MJ nick was not there when i bought my rod on wedsday the guy i talked with i think works with nick or a good friend but now that i think of it he said if i see him down the beach he had some of the set ups if i would like to give a try.and make my choice on the reels because we were talking
about that subject. Now im getting different opinions and i know mine will
be the the last say so but i like all the feed back just dont want to be spooled out by a 8 ft shark. and i know power pro is another option.

You will need this so the spool doesn't start slipping when you load the rod up with a cast...

Buda im trying to make sense of what your trying to show me but the pic ture is to big try 500 x 500 for yor picture it will make it smaller. What i can see is it that rubber hose is that what you are talking about ,I cant see how you got your reel locked into possition but i bought some type of rubber claps
that will hold your reel in place with out the bolts,I got it at break a way for 15 bucks i think,Never used or seen them before but it looks like
it works it also helps in changing reels real fast, IS THAT WHAT YOU WERE TRYING to show me buda. sorry for caps on.

You lift the tubing up and place it on the line for casting, place your thumb on the tubing get ready to cast. When you take your thumb off when casting the tubing will fall away.
Remember that when you cast your thumb should never touch the spool until the weight hits the water. If you tune your reel right you'll be casting farther than ever.

I love my 40. However, if I were doing it over I'd buy the 30 for my type of fishing. I'm not really a sharker.

I also think you can get a better deal than that online, like Charkbait, Tackle Direct, Bass Pro, Cabella's or Gander Mountian. Prices are more competitive, most don't charge tax and some give free shipping.

I've got the 40 HV and like ti though if you plan either to yak out a bait or target sharks mostly then the 50 is not a bad choice. It is not taller than the 40 just wider so it feels about the same on your thumb.

I found the tubing a week ago at Home Depot in the plumbing department.
(Thx Torpedo)
It is called Latex Tubing. A bit pricey, 15 bucks for 15 feet but I only had to buy it once.
Compared to having the spool slip under a load and the shock leader knot blasting my thumb I thought it was worth it.
