My wife and i love fishing. We are headed to Corpus for the first time since we just moved to Texas a year ago from virginia.

Any help would be great.

We are packing some gotcha lures as well as some lemon rigs and some double hook rigs. we also have some floats and leader etc.

Looking at giving packery channel a shot as well as bob hall pier. We have no boat so anything from shore. Anyone have any tips help?

I love the jettys down here, but my absolute favorite thing about fishing down here is the variety of spots to just pull up, park your car, and go for a long wade. Personally I would recommend you pick up a light or medium-light setup thats good enough for throwing artificials for a few horus, get yourself some wading boots or breathable waders, a copy of Ray Crawford's book (you can find it via a link on the left side of the page) and go exploring. Ltorna1 is right about the variety of drive up spots. If you fish the pier or from the beach, get a bag or two of fishbites. Also probably some spider sinkers for you double drop rigs. Depends on your rods as to how much weight. Welcome to the board. I moved back to CC from Dallas a few years back, started fishing, imported my woman from Lubbock and made her a fisherwoman. Can't imagine not being close to the water again.

thanks guys, yeah we moved to Denton, so we are driving down for a week trip. Last time we did this was 2 years ago on our honemoon in St. Augustine. It was wonderful. What are some good drive up spots? are they on the beach?

Anywhere on the backside of Mustang Island on 361 is a good place to start. The turnoff by the blue-roof church, another one is right before/after the little bridge over packery channel. You can even pull off and wade anywhere along JFK causeway. I do recall several recent reports of nice trout being caught in the evening from along the causeway. Another spot I used to like is parking at Dimmit Pier in the bluff, and work that shorline in knee deep water, wading towards the powerlines to the north. Good luck.

i think...or there use to be a spot on the main page titled wade fishing spots,by Sikes.was pretty good,it covered all the places you could drive up to and wade or Yak.take a look or Maybe Tyler can repost it or something.
