Flatstalker.... I see you are in Kyle???? YETI has a discount store in downtown Austin that not too many people know about. You can get the scratch and dent units for 1/2 price...

What?!?! Where? I need to go there!!

I also found out that you can sign up for Austin Kayaks newsletter and get occasional 20% off coupons that work on Yetis w/ free shipping or store pickup. Although you still pay tax.

The one that I got was in the box, no flaws and they "Do" warranty the cooler as they do all others... May actually be 30% - 35% off, but its a great deal. The people there are great. Speak to "Mario" and tell him "Veronica" referred you...

Maybe everyone just needs to add dry ice to the cooler along with regular ice, and that will extend the cooling capability of the unit.

Same Here we have sold over $6000.00 in less than 2 months out of our Temple location, we could have sold more if it were not for the back orders. The Yeti cooler is the best cooler for ice retention built to this point, if you need a cooler that holds ice longer and is bullet proof you need a Yeti.

I picked up my 45qrt from yeti store in austin last summer for $195 It looked brand new and 0 issues. Called them the other day looking for a little bigger 1 for the boat. The 65 are $230 and 75 are $260. You do have to pick them up though they wont ship the discounted coolers.

I will second Brute Outdoors. According to my ameature tests: it is as tough as a Yeti, holds ice 85% as long as a Yeti, and is under 1/2 price of of a Yeti.

So yeah, the Yeti holds ice longer, but the difference in price is what sold me. I have a 55 and a 20 quart and am going to order a 90 sometime this moth as well.

They are coming out with a new design with upgrades in Oct. My thinking is they will be more like the yeti and still alot cheaper.

I am in the market for a new cooler, and was seriously thinking about the Brute. Do you know if the upgrades would be worth holding out for?

Engel makes them just as good as Yeti, but cheaper. They carry some at Roys.

For years, I have used those coolers that meds or steaks are shipped in and I have no problems. I use duct tape to tape the lid on and screws with glue to keep it on. Works for me!! Keeps ice better than most coolers because most coolers don't have insulation in their lids anyway. Of course one time I had a cheap cooler and drilled a hole in the inside of the lid and got a can of insulation and blew that into the lid and it worked until the cooler almost fell apart. Just sayin'

Here is a link to another forum I frequent. Jeremy lists some of the upgrades and it even has some pics.

I tried the foam in the lid once but accidentally used maximum expanding foam. The lid poofed up like a balloon. Had to get a new one.

I use the small cable locks that come with firearms to lock my Yeti. They fit perfectly through the little slot on the side. I then attach a bicycle cable lock to the bed of my truck. Great coolers. I own four and i guess they will be in my estate sale......

Thank you very much for the link - that is exactly what I was looking for. Wish they put that information on their website or facebook page.

Looks like it will be worth the wait. I can live with my latchless Igloos for a couple of more months.
