Anyone that fishes, and most people that go to the beach know that the #1 killer is rust. My truck is about 2 days away from being back in driving condition ( blown head gasket ) and I would like to clean the light surface rust off and stop it before it gets bad. I currently drive an 86 4runner and the rust seems to be coming from underneath. I would like to treat the entire truck and I know it requires time, money, and patience. Below is a picture from one of the fishing trips, not the greatest but its all I got at the moment. How do you all deal with the rust? Is there anywhere nearby corpus that does acid dipping for a reasonable price?

| Ima say your best bet is to get the bottom sand blasted then have an undercoating put on. |

I had my truck done at Absolute Detailing on Airline..... they blast the bottom of the truck, spray a cleaning chemical on it, let it dry, then put the undercoat... I am down the beach almost everyweekend have had the undercoat for about 2 years now... still doing pretty good
The next thing would be sand down your lower panels/ quarter panels, and bumpers and put some Hurrculiner on them...
Truck will last alot longer _________________ Joe |

This stuff works as advertised and is tough as nails! People who don't know about it have no idea what they're missing! It's also moisture cured, so in places like the coastal bend it cures very fast.

Thats not bad. Noticed mine is starting to show signs of cancer in the rockers and lower tailgate. But hey the truck is 12yrs old and many many Pins trips so Ive already gotten over whats its worth out of it. Just keeping it mechanically sound & not worried about the rust (endless battle) its a fishing truck who cares.
Cringe when see guys with brand new trucks down there but hey its your money. Go once you might as well live out there. Rust never sleeps. Think Neil Young wrote a song about that. _________________ -STAY THIRSTY MY FRIENDS!- |

Truthfully you cannot stop rust once it starts you can retard it you can encapsulate you can ospho it you can tap dance on it or you can just keep covering it up. Metal will revert back to where it came from. Metal on the coast will rust faster than metal in the desert or you can really fake it out with a cutting torch and super accelerate it. The best thing is to start protecting it when it's new and keep protecting it like sailors on a ship always chipping paint and re painting. I have always noticed that areas underneath a car or any piece of equipment that has grease and oil on the metal parts lasts a long time. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

undercoating in Corpus Christi - Alfredo 361 533-2954
The Ford place on Ayers did it at one time, but now they use this guy. I got his number from them a few weeks ago, but have not used him yet. He should treat the existing rust and then undercoat the vehicle. Should have it re-done every two or three years. I would still spray the bottom of your vehicle after every trip to the beach and stay out of the water! Once you go through the saltwater, it is very difficult to get it out of all the crevices and tight areas. _________________ CARPE DIEM |

| For the last few years i have been treating the underside of my suburban with linseed oil with good results. I wouldnt say that it stops rust but it slows it down a bunch. As far as body rust.....i cut it out and replace the metal.....its a never ending process but the nature of the beast! |

Guys you may want to check out this product, we've been selling it for years and it is super tough, very flexible and if it dries on your skin there isn't a solvert that will take it off, you will have to wear it off. You should be able to find it at automotive paint stores.

Stops rust ....you cant stop rust. This sounds like a good product. Yes it will work. Completely strip your car off your frame have your frame sand blasted and acid dipped then completely cover all bare metal inside and out. After everything is put back together ...look no rust. Only 520 bucks a gallon. Follow the instructions. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |
