This may be old news to many of you, but the H2O Express sold at Academy is one GREAT topwater bait!!!! Shocked

I went bass fishing with mom yesterday and had stopped by academy the night before to get a few more TWB's, and saw these. For $3.49 the price is DEFINITELY a winner, but the best thing about them is the action: WAY walk the dog with less rod/wrist input that any other similar lure that I've used, and even though we had high pressure and cool temps, I manged to boat 3 bass and lost many more while my mom got maybe a handful of strikes and no hook ups using Chug Bugs or Zara Spooks.

Most of he fish seemed to be slamming the bait with their mouths closed as if a reaction strike but not really feeding, hence the many strikes missed and or fish lost even with freshly "sticky" sharpened hooks. I also tried using a loop knot later on and the action of the bait got even BETTER!!! Very Happy

Looks like one Yozuri makes but a lot cheaper.

Tyler, I've been looking at Yozuri's top water baits and don't see this design. Maybe they used to do something like it?

Having all of the hooks and eye wired together (Yozuri) would make for a very strong bait, but me thinks the cheapo Academy lure is fine for most inshore stuff. Maybe someone down there can say something on this, surely someone has bought and used them!

I have used that lure out of my kayak to fish for kings at the close rigs. I have lost quite a few out there also. I have also used it while wading around Bird Island with some success on reds. On another note my wife tossed my cast net out of the back of the truck with this lure tangled in it. Cast net never hit the ground was hanging there attached to her thumb by the trebles. Sharp hooks! Lol

Have you boated any Kings with them? If so, that would be a good test for the hook hangers, of course that all depends on your drag setting. But, with a bait this size I don't think anyone would be tossing it on really heavy gear.

No problem Don, hope you catch some fish on them. I can't wait to go fishing again! I had actually been fairly burned out on freshwater fishing, but I've been three times in three weeks to a place called Lakeside, where my parents are members. The "lake" is an ancient Cypress bottom that was damned up back in the 20's and is now mostly Tupelo trees in the deeper sections (4-6') and still some nice Cypress in the shallower areas. It's freaking BEAUTIFUL even if the fishing's slow, and the place is topwter heaven!!! Cool

Most of the time i am throwing them with my trout/red inshore rod and reel. So not lots of drag pressure there. I am only using 10# line too so also limits how much drag you could apply. I have also casted them with heavy spinning reels with 30# to 40# line. Never straightened a hook. But like you said depends on drag pressure.

I havent had a problem with the hooks being too dull. I use them right out of the box and no problem
