How To Slide Line

got around to doing my how to slide line video
hope it helps a few people out, may try it again sometime soon

i use a 40pound mono spinner with a 10once spider weight on it to make my slide/anchor
i use a conventional 40-80pound braid rod for my fighting rod, tie a long king fish leader to it about 5-6 feet of single strand wire i use 58-86pound tooth proof single strand wire with two J hooks on it, i only hook my bait once and let the second hook hang(most people use 2 or 3 trebles, i loose fish on trebles and don't use them)
i attach my fighting rod to the slide with a snap swivel some 8pound mono and a 2once weight, when the fish hits the 8pound mono breaks leaving you free to fight your fish(most people use slide clips, i don't use them and have my reasons) hook your live bait in the shoulder (just behind the head to keep its head up so he can swim a long time) most live baits will work in the 5-15inch range monster kings will eat monster baits..
put your fighting rod in a good rod holder with a loose drag and the clicker on..
feel free to ask question or add to this thank you

jacks, kings, ling, and tarpon will all hit slides (occasionally red drum will eat them too)

Thanks for posting that, I've always heard about a slide line but have never seen one rigged up.

Anyone ever try this in the surf off the beach? Seems you could yak out the anchor line past 2nd bar & if up high enough would work great to. Confused

it will work on jetties(need a long anchor rod) piers offshore(need to put the anchor rod in a T top rod holder) and even from the beach..(try a flag pole or something like that from the bed of your truck to get the anchor line high enough to get the bait far enough out

Hey He who shall not be mentioned great video. So okay, once the bait its the bottom do you just reel it in and let it slide over and over again? or leave it at the bottom?

Thanks

not exactly sure what you are asking..
the anchor rod(the one with the spider weight) can stay out there till you are ready to leave..the fighting rod can be reeled in up the slide/anchor line and deployed as many times as needed..you want your live bait to swim just below the surface for the best results..
i will be happy to meet anyone out there who genuinely wants to learn Cool

We are going to give it a try this weekend, we just finished building a rod tower and we plan on using a 15 ft. surf rod as the anchor line which should put the line about 25 ft. off the ground, hope it works.

Breakaway used to sell a clip that would let the bait line slide out but not back.
they may still have them. dont know.
there also was a guy called Gundoctor who had plans for a surf slide set-up posted on a board somewhere... cant remember where.
I think it entailed a very tall lead rod set-up like Osofaraway is decribing.
maybe a lemon-rig type set-up would work but instead of a float, using a weight instead

OK gotta ask......what possible advantage would one have for using a slide line in the surf?

How is slidlining gonna catch anymore fish than the techniques that most are using now?

So you just stop the bait rod once the slip weight is just under the water?
